Now and again, a trend will take the design blogging world by storm. First, there was clocky; then there was the Eames rocker. This fall, my friends, there are spoons. (Apparently the book above was the inspiration. Here are the resulting awesome photos from Kelly, Lena and Heather.)
Sadly, I have no nice spoons (not one!) so I cannot take part.
When I was little, my British grandmother, aunts and mom were really into tea towels. The Third Drawer Down has great modern versions. Look at their great designs.
I'm a big fan of the rustic wooden table, but sometimes a pretty tablecloth can really dress up a dinner party. Since tablecloths--even boring ones--are pretty expensive, I prefer to buy pieces of fabric. You just go to a fabric store, choose your favorite from a huge selection, have them cut a few yards and voila! My go-to store is Purl Patchwork in Soho. Happy shopping!

Now, dear readers, we've reached the end of falling/flying week. I leave you with the cute set of blown-glass carafes shaped like mother and baby birds (sent to me, fittingly, by my mother). It might be sweet to bring them out with red wine (mama) and white wine (baby). By Italian design company Dovetusai.
Esther Derkx geniously added images of dancers and athletes to old-school cups and saucers. I love the movement of these images--especially the divers. They would be a bright inspiration on mornings when you're still half-asleep and groggy...
Now I am back home in New York, but in honor of my lovely mother, I present this cotton apron that she would like (I think) and would look beautiful in (for sure). Not to say that she must wear an apron or stay in the kitchen, but she loves to cook, so loosen up, people!
